Pattern overload

One of the many things that struck me on my recent trip was how amazing the Spanish can mix and match patterning. These shots above are from just one little riad style house we stayed in a medieval villiage.

After returning from Spain last week (and I havent stopped cooking Spanish food!) I have been going through the photos I took and I do seem to be obsessed with hotels but fair enough too! The above shots are from the Palacio de Villapanes hotel in Seville, one of the best (if not the best) hotels we were privileged to stay in on our trip. I was totally inspired, just amazing furniture and decoration everywhere I looked. The hotel is a renovated Palace in the cobblestone streets of Seville - oh Seville what a totally "cool" place, well cool in attitde not weather it was a stunning 45 degress! .....so glad the Melbourne weather has picked up! 

5 rooms Barcelona

The beautiful 5 rooms in Barcelona,  a perfect retreat in the middle of bustling Barcelona, I totally recommend it. The lovely Jessica has stylistly renovated 2 floors of a traditional spanish apartment in stunning earthy shades and fabulous furnishings - I was totally inspired. I loved the rustic exposed brick work and how she had mixed new with old. Our room had a typical woven sea grass rug under a beautiful natural wooden block side table and the simplist white linen. Perfect for our stay in the big city! 

Spain at last - Vincon in Barcelona

I have been lucky enough to travel to Barcelona and found the lovely Vincon store, which has been around for 60 years! Specialising in kitchen products, pots and pans, cook books, lovely linen tablelinen and anything to do with cooking, they also have a "kitchen con" section which makes very cool kitchens and they have a fabulous contemporary furniture department set up in the most beautiful building with an outdoor terazzo tiled terrace that had views of Gaudi's famous Mila apartments. Oh to have a store that had views overlooking the Passeig de Gracia!

Working on next Winters range and i'm totally inspired by luxury Safari's, rough wood, earthy textures, natural tones; back to basics in a totally beautiful way. Shades of Greys, Taupes, Greens, Off whites, all mixed back with organic materials and that touch of outdoor escape. Spanish Influence

Hola! I am off to Spain in 2 weeks with my husband for a holiday and we have started learning Spanish (its a pretty speedy course so hopefully we will pick up something?!) and im also practicing my Spanish cooking skills, I actually love the food of Spain, and cant wait to travel around trying tapas from the various areas (and the vino!) tonight we are cooking an Andalucian lamb stew with Saffron - if this beautiful image is anything to go from we should be pretty happy in about 2 hours!
